I’ve had a flood of great questions coming in about our Worldschooling adventure. Every morning I plan to sit down and respond in a blog post, and every night I fall into bed kicking myself for not following through.
I’m a little embarrassed to admit that part of the delay is that I didn’t feel that my hair was up to the challenge of being videotaped. I’ve fully embraced plain living overseas, but I still struggle with “I-need-to-do-something-with-my-hair-before-I-post-a-video-to-Youtube” moments. However, I’ve moved on, and today is the day that I decided to stop procrastinating. In this video, I answer the following questions about our time in La Paz, Bolivia:
- Are there brands of food that we’d recognize?
-
Are there any familiar chain restaurants or shopping stores that we’d recognize or is everything pretty much locally-owned?
-
How are you mostly getting around? Are everyday life activities walkable, or do you need transportation money each day for buses, taxis, etc?
-
What influences of the government do you see (U.S. or Bolivia)? Are there police or military around, or are you in a more remote area?
-
What is the currency exchange like?
-
How did Bolivians celebrate Christmas? Lights? Decorations? Time off of school and work?
-
Is this physical separation difficult on your marriage or making your hearts grow fonder?
-
What does the “wealthy side” of Bolivia look like? Does it look like American wealth or is it culturally different?
-
How did you get invited and involved with volunteering in the red-light district?
-
Who watches the children when you leave the house without them?
- Which homeschool curriculum do you use, and are you doing the full curriculum while traveling?
Enjoy, and please continue to send me your questions!
I have loved to hear all about your trip and what you’ve learned along the way. Chandler has been watching with me as well which has been a fun experience as well because he’s been more aware and asking more questions about different topics as well.
I’m glad that he’s been able to get something from it as well! It was been quite an adventure.
